Broad Eye Windmill (Stafford)
originally known as The Friends of Broad Eye Windmill,
was formed in 1966 to promote the creation of a local industrial heritage museum and education centre
within the building. The exterior was to be restored similar to that which might have been seen in the 1920's.
Although planning permission was granted in May 1999 it was not until May 2002 that a lease was granted
permitting the work to commence.
Since that time the Borough Council have expressed an interest in using part of the mill for its Cultergen Project.
A partnership is being formed to facilitate that objective.

Friends of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service
The Friends of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service (FoSSA)
were formed to bring together the many different users of the Archive Service and to support its work.
Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent are home to world-famous industries, elegant country houses
and multitudes of organisations which embrace social, political and religious life.
Over centuries they have left a rich archival heritage. Archival collections contain unique and irreplaceable
documents which form our recorded memory and tell the story of local communities;
the role of the Archive Service is to locate, collect and preserve these collections and make them accessible
to the public at the archive offices across Staffordshire.
The Friends host social events of interest to all archive users to raise funds for specific
Archive Service projects (aimed at improving public access to collections) as well as
aiming to raise awareness of the work of the Archive Service. They are also able to provide
practical help to the Archive Service in the form of volunteers, and keep members up to date through regular Newsletters..

Advice and help will be given.
Any current group that has their own web site will be pleased to know that we will be putting a link to their site on ours
and we would appreciate a reciprocal arrangement.

Stafford Morris Men
A bunch of enthusiasts of all ages, who enjoy good company, good exercise, good ale and good music.
We maintain the traditions of old England by Morris Dancing, Sword Dancing, Playing, Singing and Mumming.
When pressed (or better still, paid, or possibly given beer), we perform a variety of Cotswold Morris dances
from several village traditions.
We specialise in the Lichfield tradition from our nearby cathedral city.
We usually throw in a couple of solo jigs and maybe some Long Sword. We may even try to dance Rapper Sword,
if we can find a team who have done enough practice to avoid chopping off their fingers.
In the Winter months, around Christmas, we may amaze you with our (almost) traditional Mummers Play
Squire Gordon TaylorTel (01785) 662 398

Meetings Stafford Morris Men invite anyone interested in the Morris Dance to come and see us at
practice at Holmcroft Centre, Holmcroft Road. Stafford. We practice most Monday evenings from around 8.15pm.
We run a programme of introduction during our practice nights.
The main practice sessions are in October and November, there is then a period where we dance at various indoor
locations around the area.
Practices begin again in January and run on till April; after that we are often "Dancing out" during the Summer.
We would be interested to meet potential new members either at a practice session or on any of our dancing spots.

Wilks’ Walks.
Wilks’ Walks.
The Sunday afternoon walks are guided by David Wilkinson who was the Archaeologist at Stafford Borough Council
and has guided groups around 32 different walk routes since 1991.
David will be the only guide on the walks. The number of places will be limited to 30,
so advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. However, if you make a late decision to attend,
please telephone up to midday on the day of the walk to ensure that there are still places available.
The walks will provide intellectual and physical access to a variety of sites in mid-Staffordshire.
The walks include several sites including churches, parks, earthworks, monuments, ruined buildings,
standing buildings and canals. Sources of information include maps, history and archaeology.
Only churches will be viewed internally.
The walks are suitable for beginners as well as those with more extensive knowledge
of archaeology, history and architecture.
Appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn.
