About the groups and the Heritage Group
All the groups contain a mix of amateurs, professional and academics all with an interest in their subject.
The groups usual organise a series of talks at a local venue, open to all (with small charge for non-members).
Many also have trips and outing both local and further afield. They often produce booklets or journals
and many keep photographic archives or 'living history' interviews.
As with any type of society they all 'suffer' from lack of members, a desire for better publicity, availability of good lecturers,
and many other common problems. The Stafford Borough Heritage group was formed a number of years ago,
under the guidance of the then Borough Archaeologist John Darlington, as a meeting point for the groups.
Where they could get together regularly to try add address their problems.
By combining forces it is easier to run an annual coach trip and put on a open lecture at a local theatre
with speaker of national note.

is produced for publicity purposes and this is available to groups
By meeting regularly we can interchange details of suitable lecturers, and in fact many groups find themselves
giving talks on their own subjects to other member groups. We also arrange seminars and discussion groups
on topics that the members wish to learn about, such as funding or effective use of press releases.
We can pool resources and borrow equipment off each other and generally find that we have a lot in common
(often sharing the same members). There is an annual fee of £5.00 per group to pay for postage etc.
